New to fishing? Learn to fish.

I recently spoke with a customer that was interested in starting to learn fishing and what it takes to get started.  We spoke for a while and the easy answer is to learn the same way we all did, that is from someone who already knows.  The ol’ adage “take a man fishing he catches meal, teach a man to fish he is fed for life”.  Starting your fishing experience with a fishing guide is a suitable place to start.  Most guides are happy to help you learn the basics and what gear you really need the most to get started.  They can help with fishing from the bank or from boats.  The guides can share years of experience and places to go for the species of fish you would like to target.  One of the best things to learn is confidence and patience.  Then think about what the fish are doing during a particular time of year and how to get updated information.  The guide can also suggest rods and reels and line and other tackle you might consider, and he can make those suggestions while keeping your goals for budget and quality desired in mind. Take the time to let a guide teach you and get out there and have some memories!
